This prayer was prayed in the halls of Congress to open a session of the Senate. It was Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall who uttered these words in 1947:

Lord Jesus, You who are the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that will make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to do what is right.

As we remember the cost of freedom and liberty, we continue to pray for all people of planet Earth to have and know the depth of freedom.
